Kansas City FlyOut 2022
Kansas City, MO
June 23-26, 2022
Kansas city started as an outpost in 1821 for French fur traders traveling up the Missouri River from St Louis. By 1833 it was flourishing for those headed west for expeditions and to settle.
Kansas City sits on Missouri's western edge, straddling the border with Kansas. It is know for BBQ, jazz, and fountains. KC has museums and activites for everyone of all ages.
Visit three museums with the group, explore the city on your own with free time, and enjoy two group meals.
WINGS Safety Seminar
USPA safety seminars are open to everyone, and we encourage local pilots to attend whether they are USPA members or not. The safety seminar will include a guest speaker on a safety-related topic of interest and is eligible for WINGS credits.
BBQ At The Airport
Relax after the journey to Kansas City. Catch up with your friends and make some new ones! USPA and EAA Chapter 91 are hosting a Barbeque at the airport (KLXT, Lee's Summit). The BBQ is included for USPA Members and those attending the FlyOut and/or safety seminar. Make sure you come hungry to enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs!
National WWI Museum
The National World War I Museum and Memorial opened in 1926 as the Liberty Memorial. In 2004, it was designated by the United States Congress as the country's official war memorial and museum dedicated to World War I. Today the Museum and Memorial operates as a non-profit dedicated to honoring those who served in the Great War.
From the origins of the National WWI Museum and Memorial to current exhibitions and events, the Museum has many things to offer. There are traditional galleries about the war and special exhibits.
Tour the museum with the group. If you are looking for something a little more, you can experience the Liberty Memorial Tower or Wylie Gallery for an extra cost.
The TWA Museum’s goal is to ensure a permanent, expanding and professionally exhibited collection of artifacts that bring the story of TWA to life here in Kansas City, where it all began. The Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the legacy of Trans World Airlines’ leadership in the world of commercial aviation.
Arabia Steamboat Museum
When the mighty Arabia Steamboat sank near Kansas City on September 5, 1856, she carried 200 tons of mystery cargo. Lost for 132 years, its recovery in 1988 was like finding the King Tut’s Tomb of the Missouri River. The discovery was truly a modern day treasure-hunting story at its best.
The artifacts are preserved and displayed at the Arabia Steamboat Museum, located in the historic City Market. From clothing, fine china and carpentry tools to guns, dishes and children’s toys to the world’s oldest pickles—the collection captivates visitors of all ages. Whether it’s your first visit to this favorite Kansas City attraction or you come every year, the treasures of the Arabia Steamboat will connect you to American history in a new and exciting way.
