Summer 2020 FlyOut
Colorado Springs, CO
August 6-9, 2020
With magnificent Pike’s Peak rising to 14,114’, which is 8000’ above the city, and the ethereal Garden of the Gods nearby, that alone would warrant visiting this remarkable part of our country. Yet the attractions go on and on, including the United States Air Force Academy, Manitou Springs, numerous museums, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, and old Colorado City, plus nearby Royal Gorge and Canyon City. Hopeful that the Coronavirus will not hamper our plans, we are registering now for what will be a busy and enjoyable time with our flying friends.
With history, art, adventure, and the only 14er that you can drive up, what’s not to like. During the weekend we will sharpen up on our safety skills with a WINGS Safety Seminar, experience the wonder of the Garden of the Gods, and then tour the U.S. Air Force Academy. Enjoy time on your own to explore all that Colorado Springs has to offer or team up with the group to explore.
WINGS Safety Seminar
USPA safety seminars are open to everyone and we encourage local pilots to attend, whether they are USPA members or not. Safety seminars normally involve a guest speaker on a safety-related topic of interest and are eligible for WINGS credits.
Garden of the Gods
Garden of the Gods Park is a registered National Natural Landmark. Imagine dramatic views, 300' towering sandstone rock formations against a backdrop of snow-capped Pikes Peak and brilliant blue skies. This world-class Visitor & Nature Center and museum is the most visited attraction in the region with all new interactive exhibits. Learn how the amazing red rocks got there with the NEW Geo-Trekker theater experience, shown every 20 minutes. Delight in one of Colorado's most photographed views while eating in our glass-enclosed café or from our terrace overlooking Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. Where else can you eat inside a postcard?
US Air Force Academy
The Academy is one of the most popular attractions in Colorado, welcoming more than one million visitors each year. The Academy is an institution for the undergraduate education of officers for the United States Air Force. The academy is open to visitors with a Planetarium, trails, overlooks, and displays.
