What We Did
Kansas City, MO welcomed the group at Lee's Summit Municipal Airport (KLXT). Kansas City began as an 1821 outpost for French fur traders traveling up the Missouri River from St. Louis and grew into a hub for westbound expeditions and settlement, and it sat on Missouri’s western edge along the Kansas border, known for BBQ, jazz, and fountains with museums and activities for all ages.
The trip included a WINGS Safety Seminar with a guest speaker eligible for WINGS credits, a BBQ at the airport hosted with EAA Chapter 91 featuring hamburgers and hot dogs, and group tours of the National WWI Museum and Memorial, the TWA Museum, and the Arabia Steamboat Museum, plus time to explore Kansas City’s local restaurants, museums, fountains, and art and two catered group dinners featuring BBQ and pizza.
