Tucson, AZ welcomed the group at Tucson International Airport (KTUS). Founded as a Spanish military fort in 1775, Tucson later became part of Sonora after Mexico’s independence and was transferred to the United States through the Gadsden Purchase in 1853. The city served as the capital of the Arizona Territory from 1867 to 1877, and it is known today as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy with a vibrant central core anchored by the University of Arizona, Fourth Avenue, and downtown, plus abundant outdoor space in every direction.
The trip included a WINGS Safety Seminar, group visits to the Pima Air and Space Museum with guided and tram tours plus time to explore, and a guided tour of the Titan Missile Museum’s historic former ICBM complex. The trip included free time to explore Tucson’s local dining, museums, and art, along with group meals at the Pima Air Museum Cafe.
